Services
Everyone’s situation is different. Some people need a lawyer for the whole case, from start to finish. Others need a clear answer to one question so they can take the next step themselves. We offer a few ways to work with us, so you can get the help that fits your situation and budget.
Free Consultation
A no-cost first conversation to see if we can help.
Tell us what happened, and we’ll tell you whether it sounds like something we handle and what your options might be. A free consultation is not legal advice about your specific case, and it doesn’t make us your lawyers. It’s a chance for both of us to decide whether to work together. Click here to schedule.
Advice Sessions
Focused legal advice from an attorney, without hiring a lawyer for your whole case.
An advice session is a one-hour meeting with one of our attorneys about your specific situation. It’s a good fit if you:
Want to understand whether what happened to you may be discrimination under Connecticut or federal law
Need and attorney to review a severance agreement, settlement offer, or release before you sign it
Want to file a complaint with the CHRO or EEOC yourself, but want guidance on doing it right
Have received a document, decision or deadline and need to know what it means
Want a second opinion before making a big decision about your case
Before the session, we’ll agree on what it covers. You’ll get honest, practical advice you can act on.
Unlike a free consultation, an advice session is legal advice about your situation, limited to the topics we agree on. Click here to schedule.
Resolving Disputes Without a Lawsuit
A lawsuit isn’t always the best path.
Sometimes the fastest and least stressful way to solve a problem is to resolve it directly. We can send a demand letter, negotiate with the other side, or represent you in mediation. That way you can seek a fair outcome without the time and cost of going to court.
Full Representation
An attorney by your side from start to finish.
We represent people who have faced discrimination in employment, housing, education, and public accommodations. This includes:
Filing and pursuing complaints with the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO), the EEOC, and HUD
Representing you at CHRO mediations, fact-finding conferences and hearings
Litigating in Connecticut state and federal courts
Our attorneys have years of experience at the CHRO. We know how complaints are investigated, where cases stall, and how to move them forward.
Appeals
A loss at trial or at an agency may not be the end of the road.
We handle appeals to the Connecticut Appellate Court and Supreme Court, and administrative appeals in Superior Court. We also defend favorable decisions when the other side appeals. Learn more about our appellate work.
Freedom of Information Requests
Help getting the government records you’re entitled to.
We draft records requests, challenge denials, and represent clients before the Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission. Learn more about our FOIA work.
For Attorneys and Organizations
Appellate co-counsel, amicus briefs and referrals.
We work with trial attorneys and advocacy organizations on appeals and civil rights matters, and we welcome referrals. Get in touch about working with us.
Clear, Affordable Pricing
We believe you should know what legal help will cost before you commit. Where we can, we offer flat fees and clear estimates instead of open-ended hourly bills. We also offer income-aligned pricing designed to make legal assistance accessible for more people.
